Creation of the 14.0 branches

Hi Daniel,The test and vendor directories you mention are related to the templating mechanism. Hello, thank you for the initiative, I agree that this repository template is a good thing.
I'm sorry I'm was not familiar with this initiative.
I can see there are significant changes to the current repository template, but I miss an explanation or discussion on these.
For example, other than Stephan's question on the new mechanism for the top level README, I see new "test" and "vendor" top level directories, and I'm not sure about their role and the design decisions behind them.

User friendly interface for managing translations from user point of view
Hello, we have some description fields in our custom models we need to get translated. I know everything about the standard odoo mechanism, but I’m thinking about something more maintainable by end users. So what I’m looking for is a more user friendly interface for users to access the stored translations for a field. More user friendly than switching their own language preference or going into edit mode and press this little globe button that leads to ir.translation. Do you know something like that? Maybe has anybody already written widgets for this? I could imagine something similiar like this globe button, but also vissible in read mode, opening a popup for changing the language only for that field for a moment, or something like that. Hi Christian, well i wouldn't say its perfectly easy to use but a way better than the standard function. @Peter: If that woul be integrated with automated translation that'll be a good improvement i guess. Bank Statement Reconciliation with multiple matching fields.
Dear CommunityI need some help. I have invoices, with invoice lines with an extra "Ref" field to be used for matching bank statements line reconciliation later on.With standard Odoo, when do reconcile invoice with Bank Statement (line will also has extra "Ref" field), we can only reconcile by "Partner".Are there module in OCA that help matching by "Partner" and "Ref" ?Thanks!Kitti

Editing/Viewing attachments (mainly Word and Excel) directly on server without the need to download locally
Hello,
I am investigating a possibility of allowing somehow editing and viewing of attachments without the need to download and reupload them locally. I would like for Odoo to replace any local storage and save users from need to download/upload the files. DMS module comes to mind as a good base for orgnaizing that. I can see multiple building blocks for this but I am interested if anyone has taken this idea any further. Some of the possible building blocks could be:
- WebDav support - like https://github.com/OCA/server-backend/pull/61
- integration with Google Docs / Microsoft Web Suite / LibreOffice Online
- CMIS
- SharePoint or SharePoint like services
- possibly LibreOffice ActiveX control to stay in browser (there's similar thing for Microsoft)
I was able to access demo of Odoo 14.0 Enterprise with new possibility to create "live" spreadsheets. Don't know how that is done (is it 14.0's module google_spreadsheets?) but that won't allow for opening your own Excel nor Word files :-(
Has anyone attempted anything like this succesfully? Can you give any pointers please? Thank you

Is this what they use for "live" spreadsheets in 14.0? I wonder why they didn't allow for editing other xls/xlsx/... files. This would certainly be an option for "simpler" files. I can imagine more complicated files. Also Word/Writer and PowerPoint/Impress files remains... But great point. Thank you. - CMIS
I have been looking for WebDAV already and mentioned it in initial email. Looking for CMIS I found this: https://github.com/OCA/connector-cmis
However that is for integration with external CMIS server such as Alfresco. So I would need to implement CMIS server as Odoo module to achieve what I want. Will research that.

Reconcile: module to ignore "amount in transaction currency"?

[26132] Status of the EBICS Integration
Dear fellow Odooers, being asked by a customer and coming across FinTech and banking again i stumbled on the EBICS standard and tried to make sense of the current implementation status in Europe / Germany and the overall functionality. As i have read, French as well as Swiss banks (among the Germans) are following this bank integration standard and slowley but constantly replace their older HBCI / FinTS interfaces in favor of EBICS. However, at least for Germany i found the bank infrastructure quite underdeveloped. For instance only German DZ-Bank seems to officially offer a sandbox to test the integration and only to their customers. I therefore wonder if there is any partner out there (maybe the folks at Akretion and Noviat know) that is using the integration with a German bank (and if so against which test environment has it been tested)? I saw that Zürcher Kantonalbank of Switzerland has a test environment but obviously doesn't follow the whole standard, so that is not really useful for the standard case (which should hopefully be applied in Germany) https://github.com/OCA/bank-payment/issues/465 As far as i can see the implementation can for now hand in SEPA mandates to banks, but does it also receive a list of payments for SEPA as well as NON-SEPA payments from the bank to be reconciled with open invoices or is that still something that needs to be done manually (with flat files)? The account_ebics module suite works on top of OE as well as OC.
There is an account_ebics_oe module that auto_installs in case of OE.
There is imho little added value in using OE when it comes to EBICS.
We support the OCA payment order as well as the OE batch_payment.
The bank statement parsing in the account_ebics module uses the OCA as well as the OE parsers (by calling the account_bank_statement_import wizard).
In order for the import to work on IBAN as well as local account numbers I recommend to also install the account_bank_statement_import_helper (which I proposed one day to the OCA but never got merged, hence download it from github.com/Noviat/noviat-apps).
Concerning sandboxes:
Also Credit Suisse has a sandbox environment.

Subject: [26132] Status of the EBICS IntegrationDear fellow Odooers,
being asked by a customer and coming across FinTech and banking again i
stumbled on the EBICS standard and tried to make sense of the current
implementation status in Europe / Germany and the overall
functionality.
As i have read, French as well as Swiss banks (among the Germans) are
following this bank integration standard and slowley but constantly
replace their older HBCI / FinTS interfaces in favor of EBICS.
However, at least for Germany i found the bank infrastructure quite
underdeveloped. For instance only German DZ-Bank seems to officially
offer a sandbox to test the integration and only to their customers.
I therefore wonder if there is any partner out there (maybe the folks
at Akretion and Noviat know) that is using the integration with a
German bank (and if so against which test environment has it been
tested)?
I saw that Zürcher Kantonalbank of Switzerland has a test environment
but obviously doesn't follow the whole standard, so that is not really
useful for the standard case (which should hopefully be applied in
Germany) https://github.com/OCA/bank-payment/issues/465
As far as i can see the implementation can for now hand in SEPA
mandates to banks, but does it also receive a list of payments for SEPA
as well as NON-SEPA payments from the bank to be reconciled with open
invoices or is that still something that needs to be done manually
(with flat files)?

Currency exchange as Internal Transfer reconcile
Dear community, I’m struggling to figure out the proper way to reconcile following case: There’s Bank Account A (USD) with balance of 0 USD and Bank Account B (EUR) with balance of 10 EUR. I do a currency exchange with online banking and it becomes 11.79 USD and 0 EUR. I’m recording this transaction as Internal Transfer in Odoo, transferring 10 EUR from Bank Account B (EUR) to Bank Account A (USD). I can reconcile that in EUR journal since 10 EUR is 10 EUR, but when I try to reconcile USD journal, it has 11.79 USD transaction (from bank statement) but Odoo uses own exchange rate and suggests that there was an operation for 11.81 USD. I’d expect either to be able to provide own rate (in Internal Transfer), but that’s not really correct. Or the difference to be recorded as realized gain/loss? What to do in this case?

We have a restocking fee module but is for V13 – on the company record set a restocking fee product, then add to all returns. The customer pricelist then determines how much of a fee should be charged. When the credit note is created the restocking fee has a quantity of -1 to effectively reduce the credit.

Projects - send one invoice per customer
Hello Contributors, I have a requirement that, as far as i can see, there are no OCA modules available to help with. We are billing time on projects. Out of the box, Odoo is capable of generating one invoices for each project. I would like to be able to send out invoices by customer. Very interesting Pedro, I like the "tackle problems from the source" approach. Is there a module in v12 to invoice only once a month (for instance) all the contract lines that may have different invoice dates? If not, this would probably be the way to go indeed, to avoid the multiple glue modules you mention. For instance in v10 I had to develop 3 glue modules to merge contract-generated invoices per partner (one to mark the invoices we want to merge, one to trigger the merge, one to autopay the resulting merged invoice)!. I totally discourage the use of such module, as you have a lot of side effects from that "merging", and this is shown on the high number of glue modules you need. Instead, you have to attack the problem on the source.Anyway, Daniel, please get used to indicate the Odoo version for which you want to achieve that goal, as the possible solutions vary depending on this factor. For >= v12, you can use the same analytic account on several projects, so you can invoice everything from the same sales order, and from v13, as Fekete has said, you can invoice "in batch" for getting them merged on the fly.Regards.

Thank you again to the people who have reached out and said they can help over the OCA Days 2020 Online in regards to hosting etc. I'm working towards getting a bit of a timetable together for this as we have more talks confirmed. We can still take more so if this interests you please get in touch.
What we do need before this is help at the OCA Virtual Booth at the Odoo Experience. Like we normally ask at the physical event we need people to help being on the stand.The virtual booth is open both days of Odoo Experience:Rebecca- Wednesday Sept 30th - 4 pm to 10 pm (CEST)

Oh I actually had this error on a normal build. Robust renaming in code
Hi, I have a question that frequently arrises due to customer requests and I never found a really nice solution for, despite this seams to be so obvious need for customization. How do I rename stuff (e.g. Entry from ir.ui.menu) defined in other modules from within my customized module. I know the various places in the UI, but I’m looking for a robust way to define this in code. It tried to just rename the entry in XML like so: ``` Verkaufsprojekte ``` This is working, but the result doesn’t show up, because in the german translation the original translated term is still used. The changed value however doesn't appear in my modules .pot files on export. So it doesn’t seam to be easily possible to change the translated terms from my module. One solution I came up with is to explicitly change the term in ir_translation using XML, but this is a bit cumbersome. ``` ``` How did you handle this? I "forbid" (not real forbidding, but persuasion) to do this in my customers, as the maintenance cost for such a whim doesn't worth it IMO. They adapt to current nomenclature easily when you involve serious (but real) costs about that.Anyway, if you still want do it, it depends on what to rename:- Fields: override `string` attribute of the field.- Menus: XML with the original XML-ID, but for translations, you need to add a i18n_extra folder.- Hardcoded string in reports: XML inheritance, replacing contents (which is also very bad for compatibility, but reduced if using a lower priority - 9999 or so-).Regards.

Best module combination for maintenance of sold equipment
Hello, we are a company that designs, sells, installs and maintains professional kitchen equipment (big cooking machines, ovens, washing machines, ...) for hotels, restaurants, canteens, ... We are currently in process of deploying Odoo and I am struggling a bit with the maintenance part of the scenario. The most common scenario is we do the design, purchase the equipment from manufacturer, sell it to customer and do provide in-warranty and out-of-warranty on-demand maintenance. Sometimes we also have an agreement for periodic preventive maintenance. So far we have been experimenting with Field Service Management (Enterprise version) as a way to track and plan the on-demand maintenance. This however has no notion of customer's equipment that would somehow be linked to sold products. On the other hand it has support for creating offers/inoices for spare parts/work/... I have been checking Maintenance module that has support for on-demand and cyclical maintenance and also allows for definition of equipment and locations. But that one is meant for "internal" equipment and locations (not customer's) and also it is not linked in any way with sold products. No support (AFAICT) for offers/invoices. To make things even more complicated we sometimes support equipment that we didn't sell or sold in the past (before Odoo) so there is no record of that in our system and we need to put it there. We want/need to track the record of maintenance task done in the past. Now in the process of deploying the solution I became a bit of Odoo developer so I can develop some simpler modules and I also did some migrations of OCA modules. So I could develop some integration of needed. What would be your suggestion for this scenario? I guess this is not so non-standard thing. Any help/suggestion is welcome. Best regards Radovan Skolnik

Hi, you can check out the OCA fieldservice modules. It's very extensive, much more than the enterprise version and does have a module for the connection between maintenance equipment and customer locations. Management of chatter with channels
Hi Community, In V11CE, I’m wondering how community members manage changes to the followers on particular objects over extended periods of time. In my organisation, we have a considerable number of objects (Projects, Tasks, Opportunities) that run for long periods of time (some several years) with team members coming and going, and consequently, changes to the lists of followers for each object being required. Currently that’s a time consuming task of going through each of these objects, removing and adding followers as I go. I understand that channels can be added to the list of followers, and that members can be added/removed to the channel, but the problem with that is that messages sent via the channels don’t land in the channel members inboxes (the place where they’re most likely to see messages). Instead, they need to proactively go to the channel and look for new messages. Is there some module or alternative way to get channel messages ‘mirrored’ to the inboxes of channel members, or is there some other way that the community is managing this scenario? We currently handle all of our internal communication in Odoo, rather than via email, but that could be changed if there was good reason. Hi Jordi, i think the Models TM-T20III and TM-m30F do work. I think the older TM- T20 with USB can also be upgraded. Hi Jordi, yes that's a big issue in Germany. We are working on an odoo implementation already. There are mostly hardware implementations of TSEs (such as the Epson one Thorsten mentioned) and Software ones like Fiskaly which we are working on. Most probably we will soon realize a python SDK together with Fiskaly that can be used to interact with the Fiskaly Cloud TSE. This in turn will be then used in an appropriate Odoo Module.
