  • Module for uploading multiple images/attachments to website 
    Hello,

we are migrating old site (done in WordPress) into Odoo created site. I am 
looking for a way to upload and store multiple images for use in the migrated 
pages/blogs. So far I couldn't find a way to do this but I have a hunch I am 
missing something here :-) Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

      Thanx for info. What I wanted to achieve was to somehow upload batch of images 
into website so they could be used in HTML of blog posts we are migrating from 
old site. Or generally have the option in Media selection dialog in web editor 
to upload  a batch of images. However I found that this would be rather 
complicated because the URL of those images would be something like /web/
image/107007/image.png The number is generated so not much of a prediction 
where it'd go. 

I solved it in another way. I create a simple module that only contains 
static/src/img directory with all the images from original blog. That way it 
was easy to update the HTML content to point to these as the path would be 
fixed to /module_name/static/src/img/

Still I think it would be beneficial if it was possible to upload media in 
batch into website editor to be used later because now you have to upload them 
one by one.

If that’s the case the best way to do it is using the python shell
interface for odoo and writing import scripts.

Usual way we do stuff like this is to dump data from the old system in
some structured way (access old DB, export to CSV/XML etc.) and read and
transform using python scripts.

Example for writing:
```
image_path = "/".join([self.image_base_path, path])
try:
    with Image.open(image_path) as image:
        buf = io.BytesIO()
        image.save(buf, format=image.format)
        b64_image = base64.b64encode(buf.getvalue())
        return b64_image, basename(image_path)
except FileNotFoundError as e:
    _logger.warning(
        f"Could not import image {image_path}",
        exc_info=_no_traceback(e))

```

Attached is a simple script for reading.
It just reads an image from a custom model. Doesn’t make sence for your
case, but you can use this as a minimal starting example for the script
and combine with the above code.

If you use Odoo with buildout simply call:
`bin/python_odoo <your_script.py> [your script arguments]`
to run it.

  • OCA - Odoo Experience Virtual Booth - any more volunteers?
    Hello OCA Contributors,

    Odoo Experience is next week - 30th Sept and 1st Oct and we still need your help!

    We had a few people sign up to be in attendance at the booth (thank you) but we need more. The times are as follows:

    • Wednesday September 30th: 3:30pm to 10pm (CEST)

    • Thursday October 1st: 3pm to 10pm (CEST)


    You'll find a roster here, if you are able to help out with just an hour or even half hour we would love to have you onboard.

    We are hoping to drive traffic from here to the OCA Days in mid October. Questions are often around membership and how to start contributing etc. And if you have trouble answering any questions you can always get details and we can follow up from our side.

    It would be great to have at least 3-4 people on at all times to keep a bit of buzz going

  • Weird issue: database does not run tests 
    Hello,

I found this issue, and it is puzzling me, so I wonder if someone out 
there has some idea.

While creating a new module, using a dev database with demo data, at 
some point I added tests.
However, these tests don't get to run. I'm sure their Python files are 
being loaded, but the test runner is not executing them.
It is not like they are failing because of wrong data, They're simply 
not being executed,

After several trial and errors, I got them running after creating a new 
database and running them on this database.

So everything is the same: the code, the conf file, the system 
environment, ...
But test run in database B and not in database A!

Why would that be?
This was using Odoo 12.

      Thank you all for your ideas.
      I believe Moises has hit the nail in the head.

      Looking at the database, I found that my custom module didn't have the demonstration data flag set:

      12-work=# select demo, count(*) from ir_module_module where state='installed' group by demo;
       demo | count
      ------+-------
       f    |     2
       t    |    36
      (2 rows)


      I tried the following:

      12-work=# update ir_module_module set demo=True where state='installed' and demo=False;
      UPDATE 2

      After doing this, tests are now executed as expected. \o/
      I still think this there is an Odoo framework bug somewhere, but it least the case is identified and a workaround to save the database was found.

      I noticed recently that if a module has errors loading data demo Odoo will disable it only for that module without errors but warnings.

      Could you check if the boolean "ir_module_module.demo" is True or not for that module?

      One of our developers just had this issue with a single module. The tests would run in a copy of the production database, but not in a fresh and empty database.

      I asked him to install the module manually from the UI in the empty database and turns out that a dependency was missing in the manifest file and the module failed to install. This dependency was present in the copy of the production database and that's why the tests worked just fine there.

      Hello,

I found this issue, and it is puzzling me, so I wonder if someone out 
there has some idea.

While creating a new module, using a dev database with demo data, at 
some point I added tests.
However, these tests don't get to run. I'm sure their Python files are 
being loaded, but the test runner is not executing them.
It is not like they are failing because of wrong data, They're simply 
not being executed,

After several trial and errors, I got them running after creating a new 
database and running them on this database.

So everything is the same: the code, the conf file, the system 
environment, ...
But test run in database B and not in database A!

Why would that be?
This was using Odoo 12.

      If a module is already installed -u works just fine. Im not sure -i even works if already installed hence the suggestion.

      Oh, and tests only run when installing the module - have you used "-i module --test-entable" from the command line?

    Hello,

    How would I grant access to a website but only for a res_partner fulfilling a condition?

    user case is publishing a list that is only accessible to partners who have "condition = True".

    Another option would be to have a public page protected by a single password. Maybe in a popup?

    Is there a module that could help? any pointer?


    I was thinking to get in the controller, the user's id from the session and then conditionally return the required data but maybe there is an easier way?

      You can already do this:

      1. add a computed field which defines the access level on the page (based on user/group/whatever)
      2. add a record rule to protect records based on that field

      Watch out: the controller will still find the record and render the page -> you won't get a NotFound nor AccessError immediately.
      AccessError will come only if in the template you read the object found.

      Hi,

      With module auth_signup you have a auth_signup_uninvited system parameter, then if you set it to False only users with login can access your website. That access can be granted by portal wizard action to users you wish as well.

      1. Can we generate petty cash voucher from the app?

      2. Can the app support the request of petty cash expense under Vendor Bills of Accounting Module?
