Re: vertical Odoo modules for life sciences

The general scope of the project is to provide a core set of modules
covering the business needs shared by a majority of potential customers.
Typical targets are companies working in the field of biological
molecules : biopharmaceutical companies (R&D), biotech companies,
service providers, as well as academic institutions.

The following will be quite technical if you are not familiar with
protein science and molecular biology.
I have started working on the database structure to describe the typical
business objects : DNA and protein molecules, cell lines, but also
process steps, such as cloning, protein expression and purification, and
laboratory samples generated by these processes. Beyond the database, I
am putting some business and scientific logics (as an example
translation of DNA to protein with use the genetic code)
Difficult to make an exhaustive list of the functionnalities : I guess
for any module in Odoo, if it fits well with a business, users find
immediate benefits in use of the database to manage their daily
business.
