I don’t think it’s ethical to accuse me from being unethical without sufficient prior knowledge.

I am the biggest fan for using open source libs as long as those libs do the job.

If the existing open source lib needs multiple man months of effort to bring it to the required functional level than it’s a matter of being capable of mobilizing resources (and funding but even given sufficient funding I am not sure if we’ll be able to find the resources within the Odoo community to maintain such a complex piece of code).

 

I personally would find it sad that modules that add real business value are refused by the OCA since they require an underlying non-open lib but it’s up to the OCA community to decide upon such policies.

I don't want anything in OCA that depends on something not open. This makes the contribution unusable unless you pay the fee for the closed part, and even in our CI we will be incurring in a license infringement.
