Fixing Regression in Client

Hi,

I need some help please.

A long time ago Odoo introduced a regression in v7 whereby the web client no longer functioned as it did for nested editable one2many.  As a result, I've been stuck on that version of v7 ever since for a particular implementation.  In testing later version, the problem had been further exacerbated, where now nested one2many's of many2ones no longer functioned properly.

I've tried raising with Odoo, including creating a test module and raising an issue but as expected it just goes nowhere.  See https://github.com/odoo/odoo/issues/13780 and https://github.com/gdgellatly/odoo_bug_demos/tree/master/testo2m. 

Can anybody give me any guidance on how I can fix or work around this, it is absolutely essential functionality that was fine right from v5 in GTK up until https://github.com/odoo/odoo/issues/3964 in Webclient. I'm not that strong on web client stuff, how to inherit, modify create widgets etc, but good enough that I can get started with some direction.
